Canvas

November 13th, 2006

I recently got a new CD that I think is pretty sweet, and I want to give it a plug. It’s Lisa Gungor’s album “Canvas.” Although its not with a record company, Israel Houghton produced it — and so its got to be good! Songs with 4 chords in them just don’t cut it for me anymore — it’s too normal. But Lisa Gungor’s music is complex in rhythm and especially in chord structure. It really takes your ears on a musical journey. Check it out! Music can be sampled (and CD purchased) at www.lisagungor.com.

I’ll second that plug…I’ve been listening to Lisa Gungor’s CD since February, and I just can’t get enough of it! It’s fantastic!

Check out “Paradox of Faith.” That’s one of my favorite songs.

    huh…i’m kinda fond of four-chord songs…
i enjoy the repitition and the musical looping. the stuff that musically never loops is odd to me.
that is interesting we are looking at that two different ways.

yeah, lisa gungor is pretty amazing. i actually just saw her last night. whoa. what are the odds? she walked into service at caroll road last evening with (who knew!) paul paino. i love that kid…
well i agree. i think the music rocks. but i dont like to listen to a song that seriously has weird stuff ALL the time, unless you cant tell (like Dream Theater, who does 16/15 timing occassionally). that’s all ive got.

also, check out my blog spot at stopthemasquerade.wordpress.com.

    Dustin,

Lisa Gungor is Ed Gungor\’s daughter-in-law. She is married to Michael Gungor (the guy who co-wrote \”Friend of God\” with Israel Houghton) and lives in Michigan.

I don\’t recall seeing her walk in at Carroll Road, but I think Pastor Ed\’s youngest daughter was there. I believe her name is Elizabeth or Liz. Or something like that…

Adam’s Corrections To Prove How Smart He Is:

    1) 16/15 timing cannot exist, Dustin. There is no such thing, not on paper or otherwise. But I think you got the numbers mixed up… you probably meant 15-16 time (which IS weird, but very possible).

    2) Lisa (who I spoke of) has blonde hair. She is married into the Gungor family. Lissa (who hates being called Elizabeth) is Pastor Ed’s youngest daughter. She has dark hair. It was probably Lissa in Fort Wayne. Last I knew she was going out with Paul.

One more… You all need to go check out Lisa’s music on her website. Comments about “weird music” show me that you don’t have a clue what Lisa’s music sounds like. I never said it was extraordinarily weird or anything. And there ARE chord progressions and forms. It’s NOT like Dream Theater. But her music is more complicated than 4 “vanilla” chords being repeated over and over (i.e. most stuff from Darryl Evans). She has an online player on the website. Go to it!

    Lissa…that’s it!

Adam…I’m laughing so hard right now! Oh, how smart you are ;) lol

My guess is, you won’t have seven comments on a contemplative blog. But hey, why be enriched when you can argue about the color of a person’s hair?

LOL…ok that’s got me laughing pretty hard too!

Isn’t it amazing how pedantic we can be at times?

I’m going to go in the corner and laugh at myself now :D

    ok, ok…I’m the pedantic one… :D

Now, back to that corner to laugh a little more.
