[...] Just like in my pizza hut example, hearing God’s voice through circumstances is subject to human error. Hearing God’s voice through divine revelation is also subject to others’ selfish desires. And the Godly counsel we receive could always turn out to be not-so-Godly after all. But correct interpretation of the Bible is a sure thing. Every time. [...]

I did this very same thing. It was VERY stupid! I was visiting friends back home (Michigan) and was driving by an old boyfriend's house. I said, "God, if I see him outside, I'll stop. If not, I'll keep driving." Just as I was at his driveway, he came out of the house, and I stopped. I knew he was unhappily married. I should not have been there. I met his kids and his wife (her name is Carrie also, btw) She was not happy to see me. When I think about that day and what made me stop, I don't think it was a God-thing. I can explain it away and say God wanted me there to encourage him to stay with his wife (which I did), but my heart was being tugged and I was playing with fire.

Setting up circumstances like this is dangerous. Lesson learned.

I've heard it said that the language of the Spirit is coincidence...It's so true.

When the pastor comes up with a topic, and the person singing a special chooses a song that reinforces the topic, and the Sunday School teacher prepares a lesson on the same topic, and so on and so forth, all without anyone talking amongst each other...you know God is trying to say something.

And, you're right, circumstance is not the only way God speaks. If we assume it is, then we set ourselves up for some pretty heartbreaking failures!
