7) Budgets
September 3rd, 2007
I am “for” budgets. I think a good synonym for “budget” is “plan.” I don’t need to talk about the need for planning our money - we all know that.
When we think of “budget” we usually think of money. But I think we need to budget all the areas of our lives — especially if its out of control; or “out of rhythm.” The most common thing for me that gets out of control is my time — but I gotta budget, and plan it out! If I don’t, then I don’t accomplish very much at all.
What’s “out of rythm” in your life - and how can you budget it better?

You know, I’m really glad that you didn’t focus on finances here. I was actually anticipating a discourse on finances and budgets, but this is refreshing.
It’s so true that everything in our lives needs to remain in balance. I think one area that I can probably budget in my life, ironically, is blog reading. I seem to do an inordinate amount. I am actually subscribed to more than two hundred blogs, and I read every single post. Maybe I should go through and trim my reading list down to what I really use, and the conversations that I’m really a part of.
Another area that I could probably budget would be the amount of time I selfishly spend on myself versus the amount of time I generously spend on others. It’s important to spend time on myself, but I think I spend too much time on myself.
Hmmm…the more I sit here and think, the more I realize that I have lots of little areas that need attention…guess I’d better get to work
