It’s important to have a good one — but you can not please everyone. You should aim to please God.

It takes years to establish, but it can be ruined in seconds.

If you spend years to develop a good reputation, your reputation will work for you.

    People have a much easier time remember the bad than the good.

    …and, sometimes your reputation will end up getting you crucified. (Consider primarily Jesus, but also Stephen, John the Baptist, Paul being arrested repeatedly and left for dead a few times, and several other martyrs.)

    Reputations. Wow. You can take along time building up one, years and years… and it can come tumbling down in 30 seconds by doing one stupid thing for 30 seconds.
