A Herbie Day.

Do you ever have a day where you just need to listen to some Herbie Hancock? For some reason, when I have a million things on my plate, listening to Herbie’s “Watermelon Man” helps me think about one thing at a time (and then accomplish more, or at least accomplish it sanely).

What’s your “Watermelon Man?” What’s your Herbie Hancock? What do you listen to when you’re in a particular funk?

  1. Wow…what do I listen to in my funks? Well, I guess it depends on what the funk is.

I don’t know if I can narrow it down to a song, it really depends on the exact moment.

But, I can say that Leeland, anything by Leeland, is on the top of that list of songs I listen to when I want to get creative.

Some others include anything by The Cold War Kids, specifically anything on their Robber’s and Cowards album, Lisa Gungor, Imogen Heap, Regina Spektor, The Good The Bad and The Queen, Sting (and the Police, of course!), Traveler, Queen, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Herbie Hancock, and there’s this one song, by Robert Rudolph and the Family Band, called Going In The Right Direction.

I keep all of that stuff in my, “I need to concentrate/feel creative/be inspired” playlist, but I really don’t know if I could just pick one song.
