I got a blender for free a couple weeks ago. By “for free” I mean I got it as a “reward” for my credit card. So I guess its sort of free. lol.
I was about to sit down and read my Bible and I got this wicked awesome idea to make a smoothie. I was so overjoyed with the fact that I could actually make a smoothie that I had to just make a blog post to tell everyone about my first homemade smoothie experience. I will leave a comment and let you know how it came out. 🙂
But I’m not forgetting about my Bible either. Man, its so easy to get distracted.
so…I’m just curious: What flavor smoothie?
My personal favorite is apple/carrot. I know, it sounds odd, but it’s really good as a juice, or as a smoothie!
Okay I had to work with what I had…
1 part oj
1 part plain yogurt (oh my word – that stuff smells weird!)
And that was it. It was a bit too yogurty for me so I added more oj… and then it was still a little bland so I added a tiny bit of honey to sweeten it up. And that was alright.
And then I read my Bible. 😀
Hmm…I would never have thought to put yogurt in a smoothie (I usually use ice and whatever fruit I want). I’ll have to try that sometime, because it actually sounds really good! It would add a lot of great texture.
Thanks for the tip!
Adam,
Good call on the OJ! yogurt was a good idea!
You can use frozen OJ concentrate–that’s awesome stuff! You can purchase it in smaller containers, too.
I would also recommend throwing some ice cubes (one or two at a time) in there to add some texture. you can also add vanilla extract. If you’re out of yogurt, use milk!
Cool beans!
Just for the record, I didn’t make up the yogurt thing on my own. I’m not nearly that smart. I looked it up on a website and almost all the recipes for smoothies I found had a juice and yogurt as the base. So I did that.
And I did throw in a few ice cubes. I forgot to mention that. More than anything, it made the smoothie colder. HA!
